XPeng G6: Chinese challenge for Tesla Model Y soon on the European market

Another remarkable Chinese electric vehicle is heading to the European market, the Xpeng G6 mid-size SUV, designed to compete with the popular Tesla Model Y. Built on an advanced 800V electronic platform, the G6 offers ultra-fast charging as well as an interesting range.

Measuring 4,753 x 1,920 x 1,650 mm, the Xpeng G6 has very similar dimensions to last year's best-selling car, the Tesla Model Y, and offers a boot space of 570 litres.

The Xpeng G6 is developed on the latest generation SEPA 2 electronic platform with 800V electrical architecture. As a result, the G6 can charge with a maximum charging power of 280 kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in less than 20 minutes.

According to the press release, the Xpeng G6 electric vehicle is likely to be available in Europe in three versions. The RWD Standard Range version will offer rear-wheel drive, 190 kW of power, 440 Nm of torque, a top speed of 200 km/h, an LFP battery with a capacity of 66 kWh and a range of 435 km (WLTP). The RWD Long Range version features rear-wheel drive, 210 kW of power, 440 Nm of torque, a top speed of 200 km/h, an NMC battery with a net capacity of 87.5 kWh and a range of 570 km (WLTP). And the top version AWD Performance, with 350 kW, 660 Nm of torque, a top speed of 200 km/h, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4 seconds, an NMC battery with a net capacity of 87.5 kWh and a range of probably 550 km (WLTP).

Standard features on the European version of the Xpeng G6 include, among others, a heat pump, V2L bi-directional charging function, OTA update system, Xpilot driver assistance system, 15" central touchscreen infotainment display, 10.2" digital instrument cluster, 20" wheels, large panoramic roof, heated seats (front seats are also ventilated), heated steering wheel, 4 USB ports and 960W audio system with 18 speakers. Xpeng will provide a 7-year or 160,000 km warranty on the G6. It will be available for order in the first European markets from May and will hit the market in Q3 2024. European pricing has not yet been announced.
